rising hollywood stars, rising hollywood actors, new hollywood talent, hollywood actors
Whenever a telephone number is shown during a motion picture or somehow used to advertise one of them they often go nowhere. Typically, there is just a voice recording telling you about the movie or more often than not, the phone number simply doesn’t work. However, this is not the case for the film “The Sitter” starring Jonah Hill, one of the rising hollywood actors in the genre of comedy.
When Hill was first shown the advertising posters for the film he loved them. In the film, Hill takes on the role of a man in his twenties who starts babysitting for much needed extra cash. The poster design was simple. It resembled a homemade ad that someone would hang on a telephone pole. It had Hill’s photograph on the top and on the bottom there were tabs you can rip off which had a phone number. When Hill inquired where the listed number, (917) 409-7838, led, he was told it was simply a hotline with a recorded greeting.
However, Hill, not one to be shy, had a different idea and asked to carry a phone that could receive calls for that number. Overall, Hill said he has gotten over 250,000 phone calls and 100,000 voice mails. When asked about his experience, Hill said “It’s really funny. People are really shocked when I pick up the phone. They mostly just kind of can’t believe that it’s actually me. They mostly go, ‘Oh man, what’s up, what are you doing?’, but the excited version of that. And I go, ‘I’m just hanging out. What are you doing?’ And they’re like ‘Oh, what are you doing? What’s up?’”
He also shared that he has gotten plenty of “drunk dials” and hilarious voicemails. He is even thinking of publically releasing some of the message.
